IOM Madrid is seeking a data management specialist to coordinate information and data across all project activities. The role focuses on designing, developing, and implementing an information management strategy to ensure data quality for decision-making and reporting.
You will establish SOPs for data collection, storage, analysis, protection, and sharing, supervise data collection and analysis, and provide training to field staff on data procedures.

Job purpose: This role is crucial for coordinating information and data management across all project activities implemented by IOM. The purpose is to design, develop, and implement the project's information management strategy, ensuring data availability, quality, and appropriate use for decision-making and reporting. It involves establishing standard operating procedures for data handling, developing and overseeing information management systems for beneficiary tracking and project monitoring, and ensuring the reliable collection, validation, analysis, and interpretation of data. The role contributes to evidence-based decision-making, effective project implementation, and transparent reporting to donors and stakeholders, ultimately supporting the organization's mission to manage migration effectively and protect the dignity of migrants.
Responsibilities: Coordinate information and data management across all IOM project activities. Design, develop, and implement the project's information management strategy, ensuring data quality and appropriate use for decision-making and reporting. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for data collection, storage, analysis, protection, and sharing, adhering to IOM Data Protection Principles. Develop, implement, and supervise information management systems for beneficiary tracking and project monitoring. Design and maintain standardized tools for recording, tracking, and monitoring beneficiaries. Supervise quantitative and qualitative data collection, validation, analysis, and interpretation processes. Prepare regular reports and information products for donors, IOM, and stakeholders. Design and implement information collection tools, including surveys and feedback mechanisms. Incorporate and track donor-required indicators and monitoring requirements. Provide technical guidance and training to field staff on data management procedures. Ensure responsible, secure, and ethical information use, complying with IOM standards. Support information needs identification and analysis to strengthen operational planning and evidence-based decision-making.
Education: University degree in Business Administration or a related field with two years of relevant professional experience; OR a degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a relevant field with three years of relevant work experience; OR a high school diploma with five years of relevant work experience.
Work experience: At least 3 years of related work experience. Experience in liaison with governmental and diplomatic authorities and stakeholders, working in international organizations, institutions, or non-governmental or governmental organizations.
Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a multicultural environment. Demonstrated ability to draft clear and concise formal correspondence and project reports. Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing, and presentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and office software packages, including spreadsheets and databases. Experience with web-based management systems. Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines. Strong work ethic and commitment to humanitarian principles.
