Job summary

A game development studio in Germany is seeking a Concept Artist to design vehicles, combat machines, and environments for a post-apocalyptic roguelite game. The role requires a strong portfolio showcasing concept art and the ability to develop ideas into solid designs. Responsibilities include creating combat vehicle concepts, designing zones, and establishing visual identities for various factions. This is a non-commercial role during the demo stage, with plans for paid positions upon securing funding.

Qualifications

  • Create props, signage, symbols and branding for corporations, cults and the tournament.
  • Help define the visual language of the world: finding a balance between dirt, tech noir and corporate polish.
Job description

40 SOULS is a combat focused roguelite set in a post apocalyptic future, where megacorporations and cults, under the gaze of cruel gods, run deadly tournaments. The player drives a heavily armed vehicle through a devastated country, fights in ritual battles, hunts rare resources and makes choices that affect corporate loyalty, the flow of the tournament and future runs.

There are multiple factions and ideologies in this world, so the visual style ranges from military futurism and corporate gloss to fanatical religious orders and predatory anarcho capitalism.

The team is already partially formed, including people with AA / AAA experience. Right now we want to strengthen the visual side and build a coherent, diverse world.

The project is currently unpaid; we are working toward a demo and an investor pitch. Who we are looking for

You can choose to focus on one direction or combine them as you prefer:

  • Only characters and factions
  • Or switch between these areas depending on tasks

  • After securing funding we plan to move to paid positions and expand the team

40 SOULS это боевой roguelite в постапокалиптическом будущем, где мегакорпорации и культы под присмотром жестоких богов устраивают смертельные пробеги. Игрок участвует в забегах по уничтоженной стране, сражается на боевой машине, добывает редкие ресурсы и делает выборы, которые влияют на лояльность корпораций, ход турнира и последующие забеги.

Здесь есть разные фракции и идеологии, поэтому в визуале уживаются: военный футуризм, корпоративный глянец, фанатичные религиозные ордена и хищный анархо капитализм.

Команда уже частично укомплектована, есть люди с опытом AA / AAA, сейчас хотим усилить визуальную часть и собрать цельный, разнообразный мир.

Проект пока без оплаты, идем к демо и инвестпитчу. Кого ищем

Concept Artist, который любит придумывать технику, боевые машины, оружие для них, мир и локации. Персонажи тоже важны, но в приоритете сейчас именно транспорт, вооружение и окружение.

Можно выбрать одно направление или комбинировать по желанию:

  • Только транспорт и оружие
  • Только мир и окружение
  • Только персонажи и фракции
  • Или периодически переключаться между ними по задачам.
Задачи
  • Концепты боевых машин, модулей, оружия и технических объектов
  • Концепты зон и арен: руины города, пустоши, промзоны, хабы, структуры корпораций и культов
  • Визуальный дизайн фракций: корпоративные, военные, религиозные, анархо капиталистические стилевые линии
  • Концепты персонажей, боссов, наемников и представителей фракций
  • Пропсы, вывески, символика корпораций, культов и турнира
  • Поиск визуального языка мира: баланс между грязью, технопанком и корпоративной глянцевостью
Требования
  • Портфолио с концептами техники, окружения и/или персонажей
  • Умение делать читаемые скетчи и доводить идеи до ясного, продуманного финала
  • Понимание того, как концепты дальше живут в 3D и в игровом движке
Формат работы
  • Некоммерческий формат на этапе разработки демо и мини игр
  • После привлечения инвестиций планируем оплату и расширение команды
  • Гибкий график, нормальный диалог, регулярный, но не токсичный фидбек
