Role

As a Senior Backend Engineer on our cross-functional team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring HelloFresh communicates seamlessly with millions of customers. You will design, implement, and maintain robust, high-performance distributed systems that support effective customer engagement at scale. This includes creating reliable solutions for executing campaigns that drive impact across our global customer base.

Interaction with frontend engineers, product managers, and global teams is essential, so strong communication skills are vital. We seek problem-solvers who can apply their engineering skills across platforms and environments, while also coaching team members and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

1. Take ownership of the architecture, design, development, deployment, and operations of microservices, utilizing DevOps practices and pair programming.
2. Collaborate with product owners, frontend engineers, data engineers, and business intelligence teams within autonomous, agile teams.
3. Understand HelloFresh’s core product and architecture deeply, acting as an ambassador and mentor for software solutions.
4. Work with technologies like Kafka, RabbitMQ, Spark, Kubernetes, Istio, and more.

Qualifications

1. Expertise in end-to-end Python development, including testing, tuning, and CI/CD.
2. Experience with event-driven microservices architecture using Kubernetes, RabbitMQ, Kafka, CQRS.
3. Experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL and object storage such as AWS S3.
4. Proficiency in agile methodologies, with a focus on delivery and quick iterations.
5. Continuous learner, collaborative, and mentoring mindset.
6. [Nice to have] Experience with marketing vendors like Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Braze, HubSpot.
7. [Nice to have] Familiarity with notification services.
