Our Profile

ANTS searches and analyses in research and teaching for solutions and methods to make anthropogenic material flows recyclable. Thus, we aim to develop a raw material management at the product and material level as well as to demonstrate and to implement it by means of practical examples. With its previous expertise, the department is one of the leading research institutions in Europe in the field of mechanical and sensor-based processing technology. The ANTS combines the modelling and evaluation of processing and recycling processes with a view to entire product systems and life cycles in the sense of a circular economy and complements this expertise by technical implementation and demonstration.

Your Profile

We are looking for a motivated student assistant to support us with practical work in the areas of paper and plastics recycling. Specifically, you would aid in the development of optimized recycling methods for reject materials from recovered paper and paper production, with a focus on process optimization and the ecological and economic evaluation of process alternatives. In addition, support is needed to investigate how the potential of different plastic streams can be tapped for lightweight plastic structures. To do so, a multi-stage process chain needs to be developed and modeled.

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following:

  • High motivation and reliability
  • Structured, independent working style and willingness to work in a team
  • Willingness to work hands-on with waste and secondary raw materials
  • Flexibility in terms of workload, tasks, and availability
  • Willingness to participate in sampling and field work lasting several days
  • Very good written and spoken German or English skills (B2-level or better)
  • A Class B driver\'s license is a plus
  • Current studies at a university or university of applied sciences

What We Offer

The successful candidate will be employed as a student assistant. The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term of 1 year. A long-term cooperation is highly desired. This is a part-time contract position. The standard weekly hours will be 8 hours. The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants. The position corresponds to a pay grade of 14.50 euros per hour.
