What you'll do
  • Coordinate with remote drafting and GIS personnel to produce construction drawings for the network
  • Plan, design, and obtain permits for new cable routes
  • Work as part of a multi-faceted team of engineering, construction, project management, and scheduling personnel, all with a common interest of delivering results to the customer
  • Engage regularly with the customer's engineering team and project management for updates and feedback
  • Provide frequent project progress updates and risk assessments to the management team
  • Design aerial and underground fiber optic routes
  • Other duties as assigned
What you'll need
  • To be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, plus at least three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination
  • Proficient with Excel & Word
Knowledge of
  • Telecommunications industry standards
  • Regulations for OSP facilities
  • Aerial and underground construction methods and engineering requirements
  • Government permit requirements
  • OSP facilities, construction techniques and conduit records
  • Easement, right of way and permit documents
  • AutoCAD/Microstation or Geographic Information Systems
  • Fiber optic counts, fiber assignments and splicing schematics
Physical abilities & exposures
  • Routinely: operate vehicle, walk, use keyboard and mouse
  • Occasionally: climb stairs and stand
