POSITION

We are looking for a Senior Team Lead Accounting - General Ledger (all genders) based in the Cologne region — an experienced and hands‑on leader with a proactive can‑do attitude, who is the second hand of the VP Finance to manage and develop HRS’s Accounting practice, drives daily accounting execution, ensures accurate financials across multiple entities, and continuously improves processes.

The role requires regular on‑site presence to collaborate closely with the local leadership team.

This pivotal position is one of the most senior Finance positions within HRS and reports directly to the VP Finance. Important other regular stakeholders include the Group CFO, the Head of Global Accounting (Group consolidation), the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis, Global Lead Taxes, and the Global Lead Treasury Management. Beyond this, the role interacts with both internal and external stakeholders.

CHALLENGE
  • End-to‑end ownership of the general ledger (Hauptbuch) across multiple domestic and international legal entities
  • Ensure the accurate and timely posting of all GL‑relevant transactions, including accruals, provisions, asset accounting, and month‑end closing activities
  • Responsibility for the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual standalone and consolidated financial statements according to HGB (IFRS a plus)
  • Oversight of the chart of accounts, accounting policies, and GL‑related internal controls
  • Hands‑on management of intercompany processes: reconciliations, eliminations, and recharging
  • Operational execution and continuous optimization of all GL workflows to increase accuracy, speed, and transparency
  • Key point of contact for auditors, tax advisors, banks, and internal stakeholders
  • Support of the VP Finance in further developing HRS’ Finance compliance framework
  • Support in financial analyses, monthly bank reporting, and ad‑hoc financial requests. Ownership of accurate actual numbers to share and align with internal stakeholders.
  • Leadership and development of an accounting team (currently 3 people)

  • Extensive hands‑on experience in general ledger (Hauptbuch) accounting, including responsibility for the full GL cycle
  • Proven track record of managing the accounting for multiple legal entities within one corporate structure
  • Professional experience in companies of similar size and/or complexity (+ employees), ideally with international subsidiaries
  • Strong knowledge of HGB; IFRS experience beneficial
  • Experience preparing consolidated financial statements within group structures
  • Familiarity with intercompany processes, transfer pricing, and international accounting workflows. Ensures to meet compliance requirements across these topics.
  • Strong system affinity; experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and reporting tools (e.g., LucaNet)
  • Execution‑driven “doer mindset”, strong sense of ownership, and attention to detail
  • Excellent German and good English communication skills
