Job summary

CYBEX GMBH, based in Bayreuth, invites experienced IP professionals to join our global team as Patent Engineer. You will shape and assess freedom-to-operate strategies, conduct prior art searches, and collaborate across Design, Legal, PM, and R&D to align innovation with business goals.

You bring a university degree in a technical field, several years of hands-on IP work including FTO analyses, and fluency in English. MS Office skills and familiarity with patent databases complete your profile.

Qualifications

• University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Several years of professional experience as a patent engineer or in a comparable position, including FTO analyses.
• Strong interest in intellectual property law, innovation processes, and technology strategy.
• Analytical and structured approach to complex technical and legal information.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration across departments.
• Fluency in English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Conduct prior art searches, freedom-to-operate analyses, and competitor IP assessments
• Collaborate cross-functionally with teams from Project Management, Design, Legal, and Product Management to ensure seamless IP integration into development processes
• Work closely with inventors and R&D teams to identify possible risks at early stages of development
• Analyze technical solutions to identify patentable ideas in product development
• Assist in formulating and implementing IP strategies that align with business and innovation goals
• Continuously improve and streamline internal processes
