Responsibilities
- Development of a semantically segmented digital twin of North Rhine-Westphalia to support planning and decision-making processes in the areas of energy transition, mobility, and infrastructure
- Analysis, processing, and integration of geodata, aerial imagery and sensor data (e.g., ALS data, orthophotos, land cover data)
- Application and further development of deep learning methods for automated object recognition and classification in point clouds and 3D data
- Establishment of a data processing pipeline for the efficient creation and updating of digital twins
- Conducting application studies to evaluate the benefits of the developed solutions for partners from administration, research and industry
- Collaboration with interdisciplinary project partners, especially in the context of sustainable planning and logistics applications
- Support in the preparation of reports, presentations and project results within the framework of third-party funded projects
Qualifications
- University degree (master's level); preferably in mechatronics, mechanical engineering, virtual product development, (geo)informatics or data science
- Experience in the practical application of artificial intelligence in planning, logistics, and infrastructure development
- Scientific research practice
- Ideally, experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and the processing of 3D or geodata
- In-depth knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C++)
- Very good German and good English skills
- Independent, solution-oriented, and structured way of working
- Strong communication and cooperation skills
