Overview

Freelance Pipeline Mechanical Supervisor - Pipeline Construction (North Germany)

Role Summary

Supervise all mechanical and pipeline construction activities on a major hydrogen transmission pipeline. Ensure high-quality installation, adherence to specifications, and safe execution of all mechanical works across the project.

Responsibilities

• Oversee pipeline mechanical works: welding, fitting, tie-ins, hydrotesting, and pipeline installation.
• Ensure construction complies with engineering drawings, project specs, and industry standards.
• Monitor contractor performance and daily work activities.
• Conduct inspections, check weld quality, review test packs, and verify mechanical completion.
• Coordinate with HSE, QA/QC, and construction management to maintain safe and efficient progress.
• Support technical troubleshooting and resolve site issues promptly.
• Maintain daily reports, progress updates, and documentation.

Requirements

• 7-10+ years\' experience in pipeline or mechanical supervision (oil & gas, hydrogen, petrochemical, or energy).
• Strong knowledge of pipeline welding, fabrication, NDT, pressure testing, and mechanical commissioning.
• Familiarity with European pipeline codes and standards.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and isometric piping documents.
• Strong leadership and contractor supervision skills.
• English required; German is an advantage.
