Job summary

Messer SE & Co. KGaA seeks a freelance Control System Commissioning Engineer to lead commissioning of DCS and automation for Air Separation Units. The role involves loop checks, testing, SAT support, and plant start-up activities on international projects.

Ideal candidates hold a technical degree in automation or related fields, with several years of commissioning experience and hands-on DCS tool knowledge. Willingness to travel internationally is required.

Qualifications

• Degree or technical qualification in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related discipline.
• Several years of experience commissioning industrial process plants.
• Proven experience with ASUs, industrial gases, or cryogenic facilities is highly desirable.
• Strong hands-on experience with DCS platforms such as ABB Freelance, Siemens PCS 7, Emerson DeltaV, Yokogawa CENTUM VP.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and automation systems for Air Separation Units
• Execution of loop checks, instrumentation testing, and functional verification of field devices and actuators
• Performance of Cause & Effect tests and control system validation
• Support and execution of Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)
• Commissioning and tuning of process control loops
• Troubleshooting and resolution of control system and automation issues
• Support cold and hot commissioning phases through plant start-up
• Close collaboration with Process, Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation, and Project Management teams
• Documentation of commissioning activities, test reports, and punch list management
• Training of customer operations and maintenance personnel
• Support plant performance testing and final handover activities
