A leading consulting firm in Munich is seeking an experienced professional to advise clients in the field of autonomous driving and ADAS. You will engage with clients to develop strategies and insights in this rapidly evolving industry, mentoring colleagues and enhancing proprietary assets. The ideal candidate has a master's degree in engineering, 6+ years of experience in automotive sectors, and fluency in German and English. This role provides a rich environment for continuous learning and impact.
Driving lasting impact and building long‑term capabilities with our clients is not easy work. You are the kind of person who thrives in a high performance/high reward culture - doing hard things, picking yourself up when you stumble, and having the resilience to try another way forward.
In return for your drive, determination, and curiosity, we'll provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities you need to become a stronger leader faster than you ever thought possible. Your colleagues—at all levels—will invest deeply in your development, just as much as they invest in delivering exceptional results for clients. Every day, you'll receive apprenticeship, coaching, and exposure that will accelerate your growth in ways you won’t find anywhere else.
When you join us, you will have:
You will play an active role in advising our clients in the field of autonomous driving (AD) and advanced driver‑assistance systems (ADAS).
As part of the McKinsey Center for Future Mobility (MCFM), you will help shape our firm’s thinking on the future of mobility and support clients across the automotive and technology ecosystem in defining winning strategies and partnerships.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide expert insights into the global AD/ADAS ecosystem, offering a deep understanding of technology trends, regulatory developments, and the supplier landscape. You will guide clients in making strategic decisions related to system architecture, technology sourcing, collaborations, and M&A opportunities across the autonomous driving value chain, helping them navigate this rapidly evolving industry.
A key aspect of your work will involve co‑owning and enhancing McKinsey’s proprietary assets on ADAS penetration and the market potential for robotaxi and roboshuttle solutions. By doing so, you will ensure that our industry perspectives remain cutting‑edge and highly relevant. You will also collaborate closely with project teams to frame critical questions, design robust analyses, and deliver actionable recommendations that drive meaningful impact for our clients.
As a trusted expert, you will lead client engagements, supporting everything from proposal development to workshops and project delivery. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in developing thought leadership and proprietary tools within the AD/ADAS domain. Beyond your client‑facing responsibilities, you will mentor colleagues, helping them deepen their expertise in automotive software and autonomous systems, and contribute to building a strong knowledge base within the firm.
You will be based in one of our German offices as part of the McKinsey Center for Future Mobility and will collaborate closely with colleagues from McKinsey Digital and the Automotive & Advanced Industries Practice.
The Center brings together McKinsey’s best expertise across autonomous driving, electrification, connectivity, and shared mobility to help clients across the value chain—OEMs, suppliers, mobility providers, and investors—navigate the transition to the future of mobility. Our forward thinking and integrated perspective, industry expertise, proprietary research, and global convening power gives us a unique combination of assets to help clients navigate the mobility revolution across industry – covering for example automotive, cities, freight, infrastructure, last‑mile delivery, and utilities. We do not only serve the existing industry players, but also “shape the shapers” by heavily serving leading‑edge mobility disruptors entering the space.
