Engineering Specialist / Application & Sales (m/w/d)

Branche: Automobil

Assignment: first approx. one year in Germany, then in Japan

Locations: South Germany / Tokyo

About the role

Our client is a globally leading provider of advanced gear and precision component solutions. The goal is to support and acquire new customer projects in the Japanese market, both in automotive and industrial sectors. Through technical presence and consulting on-site, Japanese OEMs and Tier-1s will be supported in collaboration with global production locations. We are seeking an Engineering Manager with strong intercultural and technical skills.

Responsibilities

• Technical, consulting, international
• Application Engineering:
  • Technical consulting for gears, materials, and manufacturing processes
  • Support for integration, validation, and series transition
  • On-site or remote support for technical inquiries and troubleshooting
• Product Engineering:
  • Act as local expert for gear, materials, and manufacturing processes
  • Interface to global R&D, providing market and customer feedback
  • Support product localization for Japanese customer needs
• Sales Engineering:
  • Provide technical support in meetings, presentations, and proposals
  • Identify opportunities and support sales in Japan
  • Build strong, trust-based customer relationships through technical presence
• Cross-functional Interface:
  • Bridge between customer, sales, and HQ in Germany
  • Attend technical meetings and align requirements
  • Translate requirements between languages and cultures

Technical Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or related field
• Native Japanese, fluent English, German a plus
• Willingness to travel internationally (>50%)
• Expertise in gear geometry, materials (metal/plastic), tolerances, processes
• Technically strong & communicative
