About ONIQ

ONIQ is on a mission to transform manufacturing for a more sustainable and efficient future. With the IQA Lean Copilot we are pioneering a new category in industrial tech combining lean production principles with AI process mining and advanced data analytics. Our software empowers manufacturers to systematically identify inefficiencies, accelerate improvements, and scale operational excellence across global production networks.

We’re a highly motivated team with a strong sense of ownership and passion for what we do. Our entrepreneurial mindset and commitment to innovation have enabled us to grow sustainably while shaping the future of digital lean and green manufacturing without a growth‑at‑all‑costs mentality.

What you will do

As Engineering Lead you own the performance scalability and operational excellence of our engineering organisation. You build and lead a high‑impact engineering organisation that consistently ships high‑quality releases, scales with the business and is recognised internally as a strategic partner to the product and the executive team. You work closely with our CTO and leadership team and play a key role in turning our product and business vision into reality.

In this role you will :

Leadership & Organisation
  • Build lead and inspire a high‑performing engineering team. Attract, develop and retain top engineering talent
  • Establish an engineering culture based on ownership, technical excellence and collaboration.
Execution & Delivery
  • Own the engineering delivery pipeline end‑to‑end: from roadmap alignment to production rollout
  • Define and track key engineering metrics to drive performance and continuous improvement
  • Evolve our engineering practices and workflows to support a growing organisation
  • Champion high standards in communication, quality, testing, reliability and security
  • Ensure robust release and incident practices that meet the expectations of demanding B2B enterprise customers
Technology & Strategy Enablement
  • Make sure strategic technology decisions translate into repeatable high‑quality execution
  • Challenge and support technical decisions with a solid engineering background and sound judgement
What we expect from you
  • At least 5‑10 years substantial experience leading high‑performing engineering teams and organisations in high‑growth tech environments (e.g. startup / scale‑up B2B SaaS platform products)
  • Clear, decisive communication style and confidence working with C‑level stakeholders and demanding enterprise customers
  • 7 years of hands‑on development experience with strong expertise in system architecture and software design
  • Proven experience in modern DevOps and continuous delivery practices and frameworks such as DORA / SPACE
  • Solid understanding of cloud environments (AWS, Azure or GCP), infrastructure as code and scalable software systems
  • Proficiency with technologies such as GitLab, Kubernetes, Python, Typescript, PostgreSQL and Redis
  • Demonstrated ownership of an end‑to‑end delivery pipeline from architectural decisions to implementation and deployment
  • Genuine interest in industrial manufacturing and B2B SaaS, solving real problems for customers making physical products
  • Strong preference for environments with high expectations, high autonomy and high visibility and motivation to take ownership and drive impact
  • We love the energy that comes from working together in person, so spending time at our Cologne or Berlin office matters to us. One on‑site day per week is the minimum and more time together is always welcome
  • Language skills in English and German (C1)
What we offer
  • A key leadership role with direct impact on company trajectory and product success
  • The mandate and support to shape our engineering organisation for the next growth phase
  • Close collaboration with the CTO and executive team: short decision paths, high autonomy
  • Direct impact on our ability to serve manufacturing customers and scale the platform
  • A culture built on transparency, integrity and authenticity – we trust and respect each other and make decisions based on competence
  • A team that genuinely cares about collaboration and work culture: we regularly reflect on our teamwork, invest work time into team spirit and consciously create balance in everyday work
  • The opportunity to contribute to fighting climate change by helping industrial manufacturers become more efficient and reduce their CO₂ emissions while we remain mindful of our own environmental impact as a carbon‑neutral company
  • All the benefits that make work more pleasant: flexible hours, part‑time options, remote work possibilities, regular team events and offsites, 30 days PTO, weekly yoga sessions, Deutschlandticket, Urban Sports Club and more
