Job summary

Darwin Recruitment is seeking a BESS Engineer to support technical development of large-scale energy storage projects in Germany. You will design, size and optimize standalone and co-located BESS systems, collaborating with project development, engineering and grid teams.

The role requires hands-on experience with BESS engineering, battery technologies and grid interfaces, with fluent German and good English communication.

BESS Engineer – Utility-Scale Battery Storage (m/f/d)

I’m currently working with an established international renewable energy developer who is looking to appoint a BESS Engineer to support the technical development of its growing battery energy storage portfolio across Germany.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale standalone and co-located Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, taking responsibility for technical design, system sizing and optimisation throughout the project development lifecycle.

You’ll play an important role in developing technically and commercially viable energy storage solutions, working closely with project development, engineering and grid connection teams.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing and sizing standalone and co-located utility-scale BESS projects.

• Developing technical concepts and system configurations based on project requirements.

• Assessing battery technologies, capacity requirements, power ratings and storage durations.

• Understanding of grid connection requirements and power system fundamentals.

• Experience supporting utility-scale renewable energy projects.

• Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.

• Fluent German and good English communication skills.
