We are seeking an experienced Energy Storage Project Engineer to join a leading renewable energy developer focused on the design, development, and deployment of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across Europe.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the technical development of standalone and co-located energy storage projects, supporting projects from the early prospecting phase through to Ready-to-Build (RTB) status and final investment decisions. This position offers the opportunity to work on large-scale renewable energy infrastructure projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across project development, engineering, and commercial functions.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in electrical engineering, energy storage systems, and renewable energy projects, along with the ability to evaluate innovative technologies and optimize project performance. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and external partners to ensure technical excellence throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct technical studies for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, including standalone and co-located storage solutions.
• Support projects from initial prospecting through development and Ready-to-Build (RTB) milestones.
• Prepare and deliver technical documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements, project specifications, and cost, quality, and schedule objectives.
• Contribute to commercial proposals by developing technical solution catalogues and adapting solutions to project-specific requirements.
• Assist with the preparation of documentation for public and private tenders.
• Ensure technical consistency and engineering quality throughout the project development process.
• Develop methods, processes, and performance indicators for technical deliverables.
• Support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering function.
• Evaluate and optimize technical solutions through supplier engagement, system design reviews, and feasibility assessments.
• Conduct market research into emerging energy storage technologies and innovative solutions.
• Assess and qualify new technologies for integration into future projects.
• Act as a technical interface between internal departments, external stakeholders, and project partners.
• Prepare technical documentation and reports for stakeholders throughout project development.

Your Profile

• Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Energy Systems, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience working on renewable energy projects.
• Previous experience supporting Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.
• Strong expertise in electrical engineering and energy systems.
• Advanced ability to analyse and evaluate technical solutions for energy storage and renewable energy projects.
• Strong understanding of project development processes within the renewable energy sector.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience using electrical engineering and energy system design tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Fluent in both German and English.
