The Tri-County Regional Centre for Education (TCRCE) serves the counties of Shelburne, Yarmouth, and Digby, with approximately 6,100 students across 22 schools, including 13 elementary schools, 6 high schools, 1 middle school, and 2 elementary/high schools.

Qualifications:

• Valid Nova Scotia Teaching Certificate
• Master of Education in Special Education or Inclusive Education, or a Diploma in Special Education (preferred)
• Bachelor of Education - Secondary
• University Education in Social Studies
• Designated position for African Descent
• Commitment to working with diverse backgrounds and cultures
• Ability to value others' voices and contributions, and openness to feedback
• Willingness to obtain WHMIS and First Aid certification upon hire

Training and Experience:

• Professional development in Social Studies
• Experience teaching African Studies
• Experience in program planning teams
• Experience as a Learning Support Teacher
• Experience transitioning students
• Teaching experience for grades 7-12

Abilities:

• Support students requiring alternative school settings
• Work effectively as part of a team
• Understand relevant policies related to student services
• Communicate and collaborate effectively
• Adapt to various teaching models (group, individual, co-teaching, learning centre)
• Implement strategies tailored to students' prior knowledge and learning needs
