Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of experience in environmental consulting.
  • Proven experience in leading environmental consulting projects.
  • Training in Ecological Land Classification and Ontario Wetland Evaluation System is an asset.

Job description

Lead, manage, and coordinate programs, projects, and technical studies related to the natural environment component of various land development projects.

  1. Lead and provide senior guidance and review for the development of Environmental Impact Assessments / Studies (EIA / EIS / NHE / NHIS), Environmental Implementation Reports (EIR), Subwatershed Studies, Master Environmental and Servicing Plans (MESP), compensation / offsetting plans, and related environmental permitting at the provincial and federal levels.
  2. Scope, plan, develop, and implement field programs for land development projects.
  3. Coordinate multi-disciplinary projects and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders / consultants.
  4. Prepare, review, and present reports and proposals.
  5. Direct and instruct project team members, including natural scientists, technologists, and support staff.
  6. Drive business development by identifying market opportunities, communicating with clients, preparing proposals, and participating in conferences and professional associations.
  7. Contribute to the learning and development of junior staff through technical guidance, training, coaching, and mentoring.
  8. Participate in professional associations and committees to enhance Dillon’s profile.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, or related environmental sciences.
  • At least 7 years of experience in environmental consulting, delivering natural heritage components of land development projects.
  • Proven experience in leading environmental consulting projects and project management for land development clients.
Experience
  • Deep knowledge of provincial and federal environmental legislation, regulations, policies, and permitting requirements for land development.
  • Training and certification in Ecological Land Classification, Ontario Wetland Evaluation System, and Ontario Stream Assessment Protocol are assets.
  • Experience in leading and reviewing regulatory applications, EIAs / EIS / NHE / NHIS, EIRs, Subwatershed Studies, MESP, and executing field programs.
  • Strong project management and client relationship skills.
  • Experience with Ontario Land Tribunal / Ontario Municipal Board proceedings and being an expert witness is an asset.
  • Experience engaging with stakeholders and communities, including Indigenous groups.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment.
