Job description

Are you seeking a fulfilling career with a purpose-driven organization dedicated to supporting hospitality and tourism workers and employers in the Greater Toronto Area?

  • Full time contract to March 30, 2026, with the possibility for contract extension

Purpose of the Role :

The Hospitality Employment Specialist is the bridge between our talented program participants and the hospitality employer partners we serve across the GTA. This role is all about putting your real-world hospitality experience to work, helping people land roles where they can thrive, and helping our employer partners build strong teams from the ground up. Reporting to the Manager, Industry Partnerships & Employment, youll tap into your firsthand hospitality experience to deeply understand what managers are really looking for in new hires, and how to spot a great fit! Youll play a key part in shaping the careers of new hospitality workers and ensure our employer partners get people who can hit the ground running.The role will involve monitoring industry trends and reporting to ensure all opportunities to build and retain employer partnerships are realized.

The successful candidate for the Hospitality Employment Specialist should be comfortable working in a complex, government-funded, non-profit environment and possess excellent stakeholder management, project management, and communication skills. They should also have a strong understanding of common hiring practices within the hospitality industry and be able to work independently and as part of a team, take initiative, and identify and mitigate risks. Additionally, the candidate should have a considerable understanding of equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging practices to promote a culture of caring within the organization. If you have experience working in the hospitality industry and in restaurants, you'll be great for this role!

Key Accountabilities

Maintain hotel, restaurant and hospitality employer relationships by :

  • Acting as the primary point of contact for assigned employer accounts including hotels, restaurants and other hospitality partners;
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with hospitality partners to facilitate the placement of HTA 75 program participants into meaningful employment;
  • Providing program information through in-person and remote meetings, emails, and presentations to hotels, restaurants and other hospitality partners;
  • Regularly reporting to the direct manager on the status of hotels, restaurants and hospitality partnerships, including identified risks, participant hiring statistics, and implemented solutions;
  • Updating and maintaining all employer-related data in the organization's database (Salesforce and other documentation tools);
  • Staying up to date with industry trends, initiatives, and best practices to support the integration of industry-specific information into employment, training, and development practices;
  • Delivering high-quality customer service and complete tasks on time;
  • Ensuring compliance with legal, ethical, and data-keeping regulations;
  • Assist the direct manager in preparing relationship reports, project outcomes, and other relevant reports for senior leadership and stakeholders; and
  • Supporting the development, implementation, and documentation of role-specific practices and procedures.

Connect program participants to hospitality roles that fit by :

  • Getting to know each employer partners unique brand standards, and operational needs, using the insiders eye that comes from hands on hospitality experience;
  • Meeting with hiring managers and teams in hotels or restaurant (big and small) to hear directly what makes a team member succeed in their culture;
  • Knowing the kind of questions and qualities that matter on the floor, at the desk, and behind the scenes (because youve worked those jobs too);and
  • Matching participants to open roles (housekeeping, front desk, guest services, sales, and more) in a way that aligns goals and sets everyone up for success.

Provide overall employment and program support by :

  • Developing an accurate understanding of employer hiring needs;
  • Conducting pre-screening interviews with potential candidates and search for job opportunities to match the right fit with employer needs;
  • Ensuring the timely and successful delivery of employment referrals from HTA 75 programs;
  • Effectively communicating feedback, opportunities, and recommendations to Service Navigators and Intake Coordinators to support employability results;
  • Participating in job fairs, special events, and corporate marketing efforts, including presentations to hotels, restaurants and hospitality partners;
  • Coordinating logistical arrangements with hotels and restaurants to ensure satisfactory program delivery and execution;
  • Preparing reports related to placement activities, including tracking participant employment activity and progress data;
  • Provide support for front desk operations, especially during breaks, absences, or peak times; and
  • Assist with other ad hoc duties as assigned to support the overall office and program operations.

Role Requirements

  • This is an in-person position and this rolehas a significant in-person requirement. It requires attendance at various training sites, employer properties, and other meeting spaces across the Greater Toronto Area.
  • This position will requirework occasionally outside of standard business hours. HTA75 programs reflect the needs of the hospitality workforce and its availability for training and support.
  • This position will be required to work some evenings and weekends.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Prior experience working in hotels (front desk, guest services, sales, operations, concierge, or similar)
  • Knowledge of hospitality industry hiring practices, trends, and organization structures specifically in hotels and restaurants.
  • Strong leadership, relationship management, and interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate challenging conversations, and resolve conflicts.
  • Excellent presentation, public speaking, and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships and work collaboratively.
  • Strong analytical and data management skills with the ability to develop, implement, and evaluate metrics and data for reporting.
  • Solution-focused problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve program challenges and client issues.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with adaptability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams), Salesforce or similar tools, Zoom, etc.
  • This role will receive a competitive annual salary between $65,000 - $70,000 (pro-rated through the length of the contract, if applicable)
