Who we are:

Our mission is to be a dynamic provider of integrated health services, community programs and capacity‑building initiatives that enable people and diverse communities to achieve wellness.

About the role:

Rainbow Health Ontario (RHO) is an award‑winning, province‑wide program of Sherbourne Health that creates opportunities for the health care system to better serve 2SLGBTQ+ communities through education, consultation, practice and organizational change, public policy and research.

As a Clinical Educator, you will support the RHO education team by providing tools and training to stakeholders, facilitating face‑to‑face and online trainings, developing learning materials, and coordinating registration for 2SLGBTQ+ health competencies courses.

Scope of the Mandate:

You will work independently and collaboratively with external organizations, manage multiple projects, develop learning opportunities, co‑create materials, support skills development and change initiatives, and obtain continuing education accreditation as needed.

Working at Sherbourne:

We care about our staff, invest in professional development, create a low‑barrier work environment built on equity and respect, and provide opportunities for advancement.

Benefits:
  • A competitive salary
  • Membership in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
  • Up to four weeks of vacation per year (to start)
  • Up to five personal days per year
  • Extended healthcare and dental package
  • Employee assistance plan
  • Professional development: up to $1,300 toward learning activities
  • Up to six fully paid professional development days per year
Responsibilities and Tasks:
Curriculum Development and Facilitation
  • Respond to inquiries from stakeholders regarding training and education and provide guidance on learning pathways.
  • Facilitate face‑to‑face and/or online learning opportunities for health care and social service providers as directed by the Director.
  • Ensure all learning initiatives are aligned with current standards of care, protocols, regulations and evidence‑based literature.
  • Develop and maintain materials for learning activities that meet the needs of multiple stakeholders.
  • Participate in the development of online self‑directed learning modules.
  • Coordinate registration for all learners in the sessions you are teaching.
  • Promote knowledge and skills development for qualified practitioners across Ontario on safe and competent care for trans and non‑binary communities.
  • Obtain and maintain course accreditation for continuing education credits with appropriate colleges as needed.
Supporting Clinical and Organizational Change
  • Participate in working groups and quality improvement initiatives led by external agencies that address 2SLGBTQ+ populations’ access to competent care through organizational change.
  • Work with professional colleges, accreditation and licensing bodies to promote the inclusion of relevant content and standards in curricula and protocols.
Additional Duties
  • Evaluate learning initiatives.
  • Collaborate with local representatives, community groups and organizations to offer referral and resource information.
  • Maintain records and contribute to reports regarding the completion of planned activities and expenditures.
  • Research and synthesize information to create high‑quality written materials for websites, newsletters, databases and media.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of knowledge transfer and exchange activities such as conferences, symposiums and podcasts.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, Sherbourne activities and external committees as required.
  • Complete other related duties as requested.
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities
  • At least 4 years’ clinical experience as a regulated professional in a field such as psychotherapy or social work, or equivalent work experience in health care or social services.
  • At least 2 years’ experience facilitating adult education trainings.
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems is essential; knowledge of RHO’s LMS is an asset.
  • Experience developing, providing, and coordinating educational workshops/events and creating curriculum materials for health and social service providers.
  • Experience applying adult learning principles in a range of contexts.
  • Ability to help others learn about the health and social issues faced by diverse 2SLGBTQ+ communities, especially trans and non‑binary communities in Ontario.
  • Demonstrated understanding of equity and inclusion, intersectionality, and the impact of racism, colonization, poverty and ableism in the trans and non‑binary communities.
  • Able to draw from research‑based knowledge and lived experience of groups such as trans feminine people, and/or Indigenous and/or racialized people is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to motivate, problem‑solve and deal with complex issues with sensitivity and respect.
  • Ability to take on multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines and manage tasks and projects with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated software skills (MS Office, Powerpoint, Excel).
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to drive is required.
  • Lived experience as a member of the 2SLGBTQ+ communities is required.
  • Lived experience of social, legal, or medical transition is an asset.
  • Bilingual in English and French preferred.
