Student Group Grant Adjudicator
Job summary
A student union organization is seeking an Adjudicator for the Student Group Grant Committee. This role involves supporting student groups through financial decision-making and providing guidance on grant applications. Eligibility is restricted to undergraduate students at the University of Alberta with relevant experience as an executive member of a student group. The position offers practical experience and an honorarium of up to $100.

Are you passionate about student groups on campus? Would you like to enable student groups to thrive by providing opportunities for financial support? Being an Adjudicator for the Student Group Grant Committee (SGGC) will allow you to support student groups in their events and financial endeavours.
The Student Group Grant Committee (SGGC) disburses the Student Group Granting Program funds and reviews the procedural documents belonging to the Program, under the direction of the University of Alberta Students' Union (UASU). The SGGC is an adjudication committee composed of students with student group executive experience, and aids the UASU, on behalf of the Students' Council Finance Committee, to provide funding to SU-recognized student groups for their operations and events.
The SGGC also serves as an advisory committee for the UASU when making changes to the Granting Program. The SGGC is currently taking applications for undergraduate students-at-large to serve on the committee for the 2025-26 academic year.
To be eligible, an applicant must:
- Be an Undergraduate student at the University of Alberta
- Be a member of the University of Alberta Students’ Union by being up-to-date on SU fees
- Be a current or past executive member of at least one student group.
If you are part of the Adjudication Committee AND you are part of a student club, your club is still eligible to apply for grants.
3 hours of Adjudication Training (1 hr virtual session supplemented by 2 hrs of eClass training). 3-10 hours per grant application round (or per semester). This includes Adjudication Meetings, potential Appeals Meetings, and Special Meetings. Adjudications will occur in the 2 months following each grant application deadline (June & July, October & November, and February & March).
- Experience in being part of a decision-making committee.
- Experience in a consensus meeting model.
- Financial literacy skills
- Gaining more knowledge of the University of Alberta, and the Students’ Union
- Eligibility for an official letter of reference from UASU program staff
- Practical skills and professional experience
- An honorarium of up to $100
