Join our Reconciliation and Equity Leaning team as a Representative, Talent Management (Reconciliation and Equity Learning), where you’ll be supporting the development and delivery of impactful learning programs that empower City staff on their knowledge and understanding and further strengthen leadership and organizational goals within a respectful and inclusive working environment. As the Representative, Talent Management (Reconciliation and Equity Learning), you will provide program support to the Reconciliation and Equity Learning Unit with program development and administration to meet the organizational needs.

What will you do?
  • Support the Manager and Consultants in the development and delivery of Reconciliation and Equity Learning programs and services.
  • Provide assistance in administering vendor contracts/records and processing billings.
  • Respond to inquiries and requests from all levels of staff, clients, other government agencies, external vendors and elected officials regarding policies, practices and programs & maintains effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Tracks, maintains and summarizes data and statistical information using a variety of software applications and social media/search engine analytics to measure the effectiveness of workplace equity.
  • Support the coordination of the Reconciliation and Equity Learning Unit, through a variety of program related services.
  • Processes confidential information & prepares written correspondence for signature
  • Provide assistance in the development and implementation of content to support corporate Reconciliation and Equity Learning programs and services.
  • Schedule, coordinate and confirm appointments, meetings, seminars, and training sessions..
  • Coordinate and prepare necessary materials, including reports, training manuals and presentation slides.
  • Coordinates innovative communications and engagement approaches to build awareness about programs and supports.
  • Design and create forms, templates and processes, including promotional material, presentation slides and manuals.
  • Research information on human resource policies, programs and procedures.
  • Create, update, maintain and leverage electronic and manual filing systems.
  • Partner with Finance, Procurement, and other functional areas in People & Equity to deliver business needs.
  • Demonstrate commitment to diversity, human rights, accessibility and equity. Work equitably with persons of all races, nationalities, cultures, ages, abilities, genders, creeds, and sexual orientation and enables them to maximize their potential and contributions.

What skills do you bring?

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Training & Development Learning, organizational development or Human Rights and Equity focus is strongly preferred) or other relevant discipline and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of current equity, diversity and human rights related issues and trends, including Indigenous cultural competency, creating an accessible workplace and confronting anti-black racism Lived experience as an Indigenous person or member of an equity deserving group is an asset.
  • Experience with navigating learning management systems (LMS) and data management systems such as Cornerstone, SharePoint, etc.
  • Strong problem solving, multi-tasking & organizational skills with a strong ability to manage multiple priorities within tight time constraints and changing priorities.
  • Proven experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Current or proven administrative experience providing support to a team of professionals in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment. (Preference will be given to candidates who have administrative experience supporting an HR function).
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service experience orally, online, and / or in-person, with an ability to communicate effectively and prepare correspondence taking initiative in response to inquiries and requests from with all levels of staff, clients and the public exercising good judgement, resourcefulness, attention to detail and discretion in dealing with confidential or sensitive matters.
  • Proven experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Experience preparing confidential reports, spreadsheets, correspondence, and/or presentations.
  • Proven ability to exercise discretion and good judgement in processing and handling confidential information ensuring deadlines are met, proper documentation is maintained and procedures, guidelines and policies are followed without close supervision.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills with the ability to compile, analyze and report data for management decision-making purposes.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills engaging and cultivating relationships/partnerships within City divisions, departmental staff and external vendors.
  • Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness with attention to detail and a strong ability to work effectively without close supervision.
  • Ability to apply policies, guidelines, legislation and collective agreements with knowledge of employment-related legislation, i.e., Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Collective Agreements, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, etc.
