An Electroneurodiagnostic (EEG) Technician or Neurophysiology Technician uses specialized equipment to record and study a patient's brain waves and other electrical impulses of the nervous system.

1. Performs electroencephalogram (EEG) extended monitoring for one to several hours, including patients who are awake, sleeping, or in a coma.
2. Performs EEG to evaluate cerebral death.
3. Conducts routine EEGs, ambulatory EEGs (24/48/72 hours), and reviews study data, including annotating.
4. Prepares patients and monitors for localized cerebral seizure focus using 16 or more channel telemetry with video recording; prepares studies for neurologist interpretation.
5. Prepares patients and monitors for localization of cerebral seizure focus using computerized portable EEG systems for ambulatory studies.
6. Enters test results into the Epic reporting system and manages EEG hardware and software necessary for study acquisition.
7. Adapts to workflow changes as outlined by the Clinical Lead EEG Tech, Operations Manager, or Director of Non-Invasive Testing.
8. Performs additional duties as assigned by the department director.

• Preferred: Certificate or Associate of Applied Science in Electroneurodiagnostic Technology.
• 1-3 years of experience preferred; training available for new graduates.
• Adheres to all I.C.A.R.E. standards and supports service excellence initiatives.
• Knowledge of nervous system anatomy and physiology.
• Proficient in medical terminology related to the nervous system.
• Experience with neurophysiology methods and techniques.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with healthcare professionals and patients.
• Basic computer and data entry skills.
• Experience with scoring EEG recordings. ABRET registration as EEG Technologist required within one year of hire; Massachusetts license not required by law.
