JOB SUMMARY:

Hog Slat, Incorporated, the world’s leading provider of parts, equipment, and turn-key construction to the swine & poultry industries, is seeking a Counter Sales Representative with previous hog farming industry experience and excellent customer service skills to join our team at the Mitchell, ON retail location.

Your customer base will include major integrators and local hog operations across several and surrounding counties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with retail customers, both in-store and over the phone, to understand their needs.
• Recommend the best parts & equipment available to address customer needs.
• Educate customers on new products, special promotions, and promote Hog Slat and Grower Select products.
• Properly operate office equipment, handle cash transactions, and utilize computer systems efficiently.
• Assist with inventory management, including unloading stock trucks with a forklift, shelving products, and performing cycle counts.
• Maintain a clean and organized store environment.
• Arrive on time and ready to work for all scheduled hours.
• Participate in training opportunities offered by the company and vendors.
• Continuously upgrade industry knowledge.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

• Knowledge of the farming industry, especially hog operations, is preferred.
• Previous customer service experience is preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude is required.
• Ability to lift and move 50 lbs.
• Willingness to obtain forklift certification and operate a forklift regularly.
• Proficiency in email and Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to quickly learn inventory management software.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• At least 1 year of experience working in a modern hog farming operation is preferred.
• Familiarity with the local hog industry and producers is a plus.
