Job Description:
The Repair and Overhaul Technician is responsible for conducting initial assessments and completing paperwork for incoming components. They expedite repair and overhaul work, ensuring it is completed on time, within budget, and meets quality standards. The technician adheres to internal and external regulations related to maintenance, repair, and overhaul of components, along with all associated documentation.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Disassembly
- Review documentation for accuracy, completeness, and signatures at each stage in the QG2 process.
- Perform visual inspections to ensure no additional damage.
- Maintain activity logs and OJT records.
- Maintain 5S standards in the workspace and tool chests.
- Review repair manuals to understand cycle, life, and calendar limits.
- Disassemble components using appropriate tools according to standards.
- Maintain tools and equipment used in disassembly.
- Clean components using various methods, ensuring surfaces are not damaged.
- Complete forms for NDT, ensuring accuracy.
- Secure signatures from stakeholders and update visual management boards.
Visual Dimensional Inspection (VDI) - Review documentation for accuracy and signatures.
- Maintain logs and records.
- Review manuals and relevant documents.
- Inspect components using measuring tools.
- Document lifecycle status, damage, and repairs needed.
- Use measuring tools like height gauges, micrometers, bore gauges.
- Complete forms for exploratory machining and communicate with vendors.
- Maintain tools and document inspection findings.
- Protect corrosion-sensitive parts during storage.
- Secure signatures and update visual boards.
Flux - Assembly Preparation - Review documentation and inspect components.
- Maintain logs and workspace standards.
- Complete paperwork for NDT, painting, machining.
- Assess repairs and prepare paperwork for vendors.
- Maintain tools and verify parts for assembly.
- Document serviceable parts and ensure proper documentation.
- Secure signatures and update visual boards.
Assembly - Review documentation and inspect components.
- Maintain logs and workspace standards.
- Verify parts and document serialized components.
- Assemble components per standards and regulations.
- Perform dynamic testing for leaks, pressures, and heat cycles.
- Prepare units for shipment.
- Secure signatures and update visual boards.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma; college diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Technology or related field is an asset.
- At least 2 years’ experience with hand tools in a mechanical environment.
- Experience with Airbus products and documentation is an asset.
- Knowledge of aircraft maintenance management and Canadian Aviation Regulations.
- Familiarity with hand tools and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills with Microsoft & Google applications.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Customer focus and ability to interpret technical manuals.
- Knowledge of tools used in aircraft repair is an asset.
- Manual dexterity and precision skills.
- Flexibility to operational changes.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed indoors with exposure to awkward positions, twisting, bending, standing, sitting, lifting (20-60 lbs.), and repetitive hand movements. Exposure to chemicals, oils, hot surfaces, dust, machinery, and sharp objects is possible. The role requires awareness of compliance risks and acting with integrity.
