Job summary

A veterinary group in Ridgetown, Ontario is offering an externship for veterinary students. At the Chatham-Kent Veterinary Hospital Group (locally known as CK Vets), veterinary students seeking an externship will find a warm and welcoming environment dedicated to high-quality care for pets. Our team of veterinarians, technicians, and animal care specialists are passionate about preventive care and the latest medical advancements. You'll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals gaining hands-on experience in diverse cases and advanced procedures, including dentistry, ultrasound, and surgery. Chatham-Kent Veterinary Hospital (Chatham, Ontario)

Blenheim Veterinary Hospital (Blenheim, Ontario)

South Ridge Veterinary Clinic (Ridgetown, Ontario)

Wallaceburg Animal Hospital (Wallaceburg, Ontario)

Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creation of treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to practicing their clinical skills, student externs will have the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Veterinary students in their 4th or clinical year are encouraged to apply.
