Job summary

YMCA of Southern Interior BC Association in Kelowna is seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator to learn and take over payroll operations. From now until May 31, 2027, you’ll learn the payroll cycle, optimize UKG usage, and reduce duplication.

On June 1, 2027, you’ll assume primary accountability for payroll delivery and become the UKG SME for Payroll and People & Culture. This hands-on role requires strong payroll expertise, system leadership, and a drive to improve processes, reporting,

Qualifications

• 3–5 years payroll and benefits experience, ideally in a multi-location nonprofit.
• UKG experience required; includes admin, configuration, and reporting.
• Experience with pension, year-end audits, and statutory reporting.
• Canadian payroll knowledge: CRA, Employment Standards, and WorkSafeBC.
• Track record of initiative, leading projects, and improving processes.
• Comfort with using technology to improve efficiency and the employee experience.

Responsibilities

• Administer, process, and audit bi-weekly payroll for 600+ employees.
• Prepare ROEs and final pay; lead year-end processes and audits.
• Coordinate benefits, pension, onboarding, and offboarding with People & Culture.
• Ensure payroll compliance while delivering excellent service.
• Serve as UKG Super User and SME for Payroll and People & Culture.
• Lead UKG configuration, testing, and optimization of Payroll and HRIS.
• Identify improvements: automation, reporting, and self-service enhancements.
