Job description

As a Turbomachinery Engineer , you will design, develop, and test high-performance turbomachinery components, such as pumps and turbines, for orbital launch vehicle propulsion systems. You will collaborate with propulsion and fluid systems teams to optimize component performance, ensuring reliability and efficiency under extreme conditions.

Responsibilities include conducting iterative design-build-test cycles, performing detailed analyses, and supporting hardware qualification to meet mission-critical standards. You will work cross-functionally to integrate turbomachinery into rocket systems, contributing to the success of launch programs. This role requires someone with vision, leadership, and a relentless work ethic that goes far beyond the norm. It also requires someone who has a strong natural intuition of physics and mathematics, a knack for hands on prototyping, and a desire to move fast.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of industry experience in propulsion/rocketry
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering or related field, Master’s or Ph.D. greatly preferred
  • Significant hands-on engineering experience with propulsion systems design, prototyping, and testing
  • Significant experience working safely with high pressure gases, propellants, fluids
  • Significant experience with fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, compressible flow, aerodynamics, structural dynamics
  • Significant experience with CAD, CFD, and FEA tools such as Solidworks, Autodesk Suite, Ansys, Nastran, MATLAB
  • Significant knowledge of and deep passion for the space industry at large
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to conduct independent research
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Excellent project management skills

Salary Range:85-100k base, eligible for equity after 1 year
