Job summary

Paladin Security Group is seeking a Temporary Part-Time Security Guard at Queen's University Libraries in Kingston, Ontario. The role includes greeting visitors, performing campus patrols, enforcing safety protocols, monitoring surveillance, and documenting incidents. Must have First Aid & CPR Level C, COVID-19 vaccination, and 6 months of customer service experience.

Qualifications

• First Aid & CPR Level C certification required.
• Proof of minimum double COVID-19 vaccination.
• Immunization records (MMR, Varicella, TB tests).
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
• At least 6 months of customer service experience.
• Commit to a minimum 6-month position.
• MOAB and UOF certifications, or willingness to attend a 4-day class.

Responsibilities

• Greet staff, students, and visitors politely and assist with wayfinding.
• Conduct proactive, regular patrols across the campus library site.
• Ensure staff, visitors, and vendors follow university policies and safety protocols.
• Monitor site surveillance to maintain a secure environment.
• Complete shift logs and detailed incident reports.
• Remain calm and act effectively during emergencies.
• Follow established safety procedures in a dynamic setting.
• Perform additional support duties as assigned.

Employment Type: Temporary Part-Time

Pay Rate: $21.01 / hour

Site: Queen's University Libraries

Schedule: Friday (07:30 - 17:30), Saturday (09:30 - 17:30), Sunday (09:30 - 18:30)

Site Overview

Queen's University Libraries serve as a vibrant academic hub for students, faculty, and campus visitors. This position offers a professional, customer-focused environment where maintaining safety and accessible support helps foster a secure learning community.

What You'll Be Doing

• Greet staff, students, and visitors politely and assist with wayfinding.
• Conduct proactive, regular patrols across the campus library site.
• Ensure staff, visitors, and vendors follow Queen's University policies and safety protocols.
• Monitor site surveillance to maintain a secure environment.
• Complete accurate shift logs and detailed incident reports.
• Remain calm and act effectively during emergency situations.
• Follow specific instructions and established safety procedures in a dynamic setting.
• Perform additional support duties as assigned.

Must Haves

• Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C certification from a WSIB-approved vendor.
• Proof of minimum double COVID-19 vaccination.
• Copy of immunization records (MMR, Varicella, and Step 1 & 2 TB Skin Tests).
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
• At least 6 months of customer service experience.
• Ability to commit to the position for a minimum of 6 months.
• Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB) and Use of Force (UOF) certifications, or ability to attend a 4-day weekday certification class upon hire (paid by Paladin with a 6-month commitment contract).
