Job summary

Paladin Security is hiring a Healthcare Security Guard for The Royal Brockville, a mental health facility in Brockville, Ontario. This temporary full-time role involves patrolling the site, responding to incidents, and assisting clinical staff with safety measures.

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and pass a Vulnerable Sector Check. Training for Use of Force and MOAB is provided or required to complete onboarding.

Qualifications

• Legal authorization to work in Canada.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Ability to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check during onboarding.
• Clean-shaven to meet N95 mask fit-testing requirements.
• Proof of two COVID-19 vaccinations and immunization records.
• Valid Use of Force (UoF) and MOAB certifications, or willingness to complete training.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interior and exterior security patrols of the facility.
• Respond to incidents and calls for assistance during emergencies.
• Use verbal de-escalation and conflict management techniques.
• Assist clinical staff with patient management and restraints when required.
• Enforce site rules and facility guidelines.
• Investigate incidents and write clear incident reports by end of shift.
• Maintain vigilance during 12-hour shifts.
• Collaborate with site staff and emergency services to ensure smooth operations.

Position Overview

Employment Type: Temporary Full-Time

Pay Rate: $19.50/hour

Site: The Royal Brockville

Site Overview

The Royal Brockville is a specialized mental health facility providing secure, clinically intensive care and community-based support services. As part of The Royal Ottawa Health Care Group, this site supports individuals with complex mental health needs in a compassionate, safety-focused environment.

What You'll Be Doing

Conduct proactive interior and exterior security patrols of the facility, regardless of weather conditions.

Respond promptly to incidents and calls for assistance, maintaining composure during emergencies.

Apply effective verbal de-escalation and conflict management techniques.

Assist clinical staff with patient management and physical restraints when required to maintain safety.

Enforce parking rules, smoking policies, site bylaws, and facility guidelines.

Investigate routine incidents and write clear, accurate incident reports before the end of each shift.

Sit or stand for up to 12 hours per shift while staying vigilant.

Work closely with site staff, emergency services, and team members to ensure smooth operations.

Must Haves

Legal authorization to work in Canada.

Fluency in English (spoken and written).

Ability to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check during onboarding.

Clean-shaven to meet N95 mask fit-testing requirements.

Proof of at least two COVID-19 vaccinations and completed immunization records (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Hepatitis B, and TB Skin Tests Step 1 & 2).

Valid Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB) certifications, or willingness to complete pre-onboarding training (requires ability to travel to Kingston, Ontario).

Physical capability to perform patrols, participate in physical restraints, and handle 12-hour shifts.

Nice-to-Haves

6 or more months of security experience, particularly in a healthcare or specialized clinical setting.
