Job summary

Benmet Steel & Metal Inc. in Ontario is seeking a yard associate to sort scrap metal, grade material, and assist customers unloading. You will report to the Operations Manager and support daily yard operations.

Responsibilities include using two-way radios, handling hand and power tools, maintaining clean sorting areas, and working outdoors in varied weather conditions. Prior industrial experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• 3 months experience in an industrial setting.
• 1 year experience in an industrial setting is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Sort various scrap metals (ferrous and non-ferrous) for recycle.
• Grade incoming material.
• Use two-way radios for communication.
• Build relationships with customers who visit the yard.
• Work safely and independently.
• Operate and maintain hand and power tools safely.
• Keep sorting areas clean and organized.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

What you’ll do…

Our Team members are the heart and soul of our yard. They are responsible for grading and sorting material, in addition to assisting customers with unloading or material inquiries. We are looking for a hard-working team member to add to our team and be a in our service delivery, operations, and growth. You will report directly to the Operations Manager and play a leading role in day-to-day operations.

Job Description

• Sorting of various types of scrap metal, both non-ferrous and ferrous, for preparation to recycle
• Grading of incoming material
• Use of two-way radios
• Build relationships with customers who come into the yard
• Ability to work safely and independently
• Safe and efficient use of various hand and power tools
• Maintain cleanliness of sorting areas
• Work outside in a variety of weather conditions

Requirements
