Position

Temporary 0.60 FTE Grades K-7 Teacher Librarian

  • Anticipated location to be at Brooklyn Elementary
  • Contact Days: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
  • This temporary position will end on November 26, 2025 or upon return of the incumbent
Responsibilities
  • Advocate and facilitate learning opportunities that lead to continuous improvement of instruction and assessment
  • Support and collaborate with classroom teachers on technology integration and troubleshooting minor hardware issues
  • Promote literacy to empower lifelong learners and foster evidence-based arguments
  • Develop and implement opportunities that foster digital citizenship for ethical information use
  • Organize, evaluate, and provide print, digital and non-print materials to improve student learning and engagement
  • Collaborate to support personalized, participatory and experiential learning (e.g., author visits, Makerspace, Coding)
  • Manage the Follett Automated Library System and ensure site licensing compliance
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Library Clerks and Library Substitutes as needed
  • Demonstrate strong communication, flexibility and collaboration with the school community
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in Library Science, or Teacher Librarian Certificate or Diploma Program
  • Ability to advocate and facilitate learning opportunities that lead to continuous improvement of instruction and assessment
  • Ability and experience developing students' critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creative skills
  • Familiar with copyright and site licensing
  • Experience with print and electronic resource selection, acquisition, organization, and purchasing
  • Ability to organize, maintain, evaluate, select, order and provide materials that improve student learning and engagement, including Aboriginal connections
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate opportunities for personalized, participatory and experiential learning
  • Familiar with the Follett Automated Library System
  • French language proficiency in schools offering French Immersion

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills with staff and the school community
  • Ability to model instructional strategies and coach staff in the integration of technology with curriculum and resources
