Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in land surveying, with at least 2 years in a party chief role.
  • Chainsaw experience and training is an asset.
  • Willingness to travel for short duration projects out of town.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Lead field survey crews in the collection of topographic, boundary, construction, and control data
  • Interpret project plans, legal descriptions, and survey requirements to plan daily field activities
  • Operate and maintain survey equipment including GNSS receivers, total stations, and data collectors
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of field data and documentation
  • Collaborate with office staff to process data and resolve discrepancies
  • Train and supervise junior crew members, fostering a culture of safety and technical excellence
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and clients
  • Provide field notes, sketches, and digital records in accordance with company standards

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in land surveying, with at least 2 years in a party chief role
  • Proficiency in modern survey equipment and software (e.g., Trimble, Leica, Civil 3D, MicroSurvey)
  • Strong understanding of geodetic principles, boundary analysis, and construction layout
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites (5-10%)
  • Chainsaw experience and training is an asset
  • Willingness to travel for short duration projects out of town.
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Graduate of Centre of Geographic Science (COGS), EIT designation, or equivalent is an asset
