Job summary

Alpine Labour Relations Business Partner in Delta, BC, with hybrid opportunities, leads day-to-day labour relations and interpretations of collective agreements. You will manage grievances, coach leaders, and build strong union relationships to support operations in a fast-paced, unionized environment.

You will participate in bargaining, implement new agreements, and ensure compliance with legislation while maintaining accurate records and collaborating with the People & Culture team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive HR experience with significant labour relations in a unionized environment.
• Experience interpreting and applying collective agreements in day-to-day operations.
• Experience managing grievances, progressive discipline, investigations, and attendance management.
• Experience participating in grievance meetings, labour-management meetings, mediations, arbitrations.
• Confident advising and coaching leaders through difficult employee and workplace situations.
• Strong understanding of labour and employment legislation.
• Strong communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced multi-union environment where priorities change.
• Ability to travel to worksites as required. Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearances.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day labour relations advice, including collective agreement interpretation.
• Manage grievances from intake through resolution and participate in meetings.
• Coach leaders on progressive discipline, attendance, performance and conduct.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with union representatives.
• Lead and participate in collective bargaining and bargaining strategies.
• Support implementation of new collective agreements and ensure changes are applied.
• Guide on seniority, scheduling, hours of work, leaves and postings.
• Identify labour relations trends and advise leaders to improve practices.
• Conduct workplace investigations and provide practical recommendations.
• Support accommodations and return-to-work processes in line with collective agreements.
