Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Labour Relations Specialist for a healthcare client on a 6-month hybrid contract. In this role, you will guide leaders on complex labour practices, interpret collective agreements, and ensure compliance with legislation. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of experience in labour relations within a unionized environment, strong negotiation skills, and a relevant degree. Qualifications

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Labour Relations Specialist for our healthcare client, this is a 6 month contract opportunity. As the Labour Relations Specialist, you will be a trusted advisor to leaders and HR partners, supporting fair, consistent, and compassionate labour practices in a complex, unionized environment.

You will work alongside dedicated healthcare professionals and people leaders who are deeply committed to delivering care and making a difference. Your guidance will help strengthen relationships, resolve challenges, and ensure every decision reflects organizational values, legislation, and collective agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and advise leaders on complex labour relations matters including discipline, investigations, performance, attendance, and terminations.
  • Interpret and apply multiple collective agreements, policies, and legislative requirements.
  • Lead grievance resolution, from early intervention through mediation, arbitration, and data-driven trend analysis.
  • Ensure organizational compliance by monitoring legislation, updating policies, and preparing reports.
  • Support collective bargaining preparation, mandate development, and agreement implementation.
  • Build trusted relationships with union partners, leaders, and employees to promote collaboration and positive workplace culture.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of progressive labour relations experience in a unionized environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, Master’s in Industrial Relations preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario employment and labour legislation
  • Proven negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to influence, build trust, and engage stakeholders at all levels
