Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a Labour Relations Advisor to guide HR and operations on labour and employee relations matters from our Markham head office. You will support grievance management, collective agreement administration, and union-management relations across multiple sites.

The role focuses on coaching, negotiations support, data analysis, and strategic consultation to drive positive outcomes within a unionized environment.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in business/human resources/industrial relations or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
• Human Resource designation (i.e. CHRL) preferred.
• 3–5 years of Labour Relations experience in a unionized environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge/experience supporting collective agreement negotiations.
• Strong knowledge/experience with interpretation of collective agreements.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data and interpret information.
• Strong consultation/facilitation, analytical, communication and strategic thinking skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Acts as the first point of contact for site HR and management team for all labour & employee relations matters.
• Supports Management team with ongoing coaching, mentoring and knowledge to effectively manage team members within a unionized environment.
• Coaches and guides Human Resources team members on matters relating to labour relations.
• Participates and assists in the collective bargaining process; includes mandate development, preparation of materials, proposals, and collective agreement implementation.
• Provides labour relations advice to management and human resources in addressing initiatives with possible LR impact.
• Collects, analyzes, and interprets information such as case law, reviewing precedents, arbitral jurisprudence and gathering related documentation as required.
