Job summary

Portage is seeking a Human Resources Advisor to act as a subject matter expert for managers and teams. The role focuses on labor standards, policy development, labor relations, talent management, and manager support to ensure compliant, equitable practices aligned with Portage's values.

The position emphasizes interpretation of employment laws, coaching managers, and driving improvements in the employee experience through advisory leadership and strategic HR initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HRM or Industrial Relations.
• CHRP or CIRC designation is a strong asset.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant HR Advisor experience.
• Excellent knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.
• Significant experience advising managers on complex workplace situations.
• Strong judgment, credibility, and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary resource person for HR matters for managers.
• Advise on interpretation and application of HR policies and procedures.
• Support performance management, employee engagement, conflict resolution and complex cases.
• Provide coaching to managers to strengthen HR management skills.
