Job description

Overview

If you are looking to make an impact, we are looking for you! We are hiring a full time Software Quality Analyst 2 in our Fitness Products group at Garmin Canada in Cochrane, AB. This group is responsible for the VariaTM family of products for cycling awareness, the RallyTM family of bike power meters, and essential fitness accessories such as Heart Rate monitors and Bike Speed/Cadence sensors. As a member of our group, you will work closely with multiple software development teams throughout the product lifecycle. Your primary focus will be contributing to the development and execution of test plans responsible for ensuring the quality of the next generation of products delivered to Garmin's Fitness customers.

At Garmin, Software Quality Analysts are passionate about our customers and work to continuously improve our products. Essential functions include:

  • Design test plans, scenarios, scripts and/or procedures in accordance with established Garmin test procedures - including analysis, review and tracing of requirements as necessary
  • Conduct software qualification tests and communicate results to product owners and engineering teams
  • Provide feedback to design and development teams to help improve the quality of product software and overall Garmin ecosystem experience
  • Perform defect analysis to find related defects and to improve test coverage
  • Document defects in a defect management system and report defects to developers
  • Collect and analyze test results and communicate with internal customers and product owners
  • Investigate and verify issues reported to quality assurance for validity and reproducibility
  • Verify software modifications in new software versions to prepare for deployment
  • Assist in test case maintenance as necessary to keep repository current
REQUIREMENTS:

  • Two-year diploma from a technical/vocational institution, AND a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in product and/or software quality assurance processes and methodologies
  • Experience in creating test plans, conducting usability tests, and/or writing test scripts
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Superior organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to exercise sound independent judgment
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience working in a team environment
  • Previous experience with Garmin products
  • Experience using software project tracking/ticketing system (e.g. JIRA)
  • Experience using test case management software (e.g. ALM Octane)
  • Experience with Python scripting
