Logistic Simulation Engineer (Vancouver based)

Your department

In the Systems Simulation Department, you will join a group of enthusiastic, highly trained professionals. This team of simulation engineers provides support to our Airports, Parcel and Warehousing Divisions. Next to that, we support R&D in developing new concepts and algorithms. Within the department, much attention is paid to the personal development of simulation engineers to enable them to learn and develop valuable skills for their careers.

Your position

As a Logistic Simulation Engineer, you conduct studies on the dynamic interaction in - and the logistics performance of - the complex material handling systems Vanderlande delivers. You will use 3‑D simulation software to analyze and solve complex logistic problems. With your analytical skills and proactive attitude, you will validate performance, optimize the system and identify bottlenecks prior to installation at the customer's site. Through creative thinking, you will develop conceptual improvements to controls strategies and provide customers with tailored advice to their specific questions. After you have gained more experience, your communication skills will enable you to act as a link between the different disciplines involved when working on larger projects.

As a simulation engineer based in our Vancouver office you will be a part of both the Sales organization in North America as well as the Simulation Department in The Netherlands.

Responsibilities
  • Define requirements and specifications for simulation studies.
  • Specify and develop new simulation models, control algorithms and generic modules using 3D‑simulation software to analyze dynamic interactions within the material handling systems.
  • Plan and perform system analysis and draw conclusions with respect to performance and compliancy with the requirements.
  • Work with diverse project teams to ensure solutions reach stated performance, whilst functioning as a link between different disciplines. Pro‑actively contribute to optimization of the system/solution under development.
  • Report progress and results of the simulation studies to internal and external customers.
  • Expand knowledge of simulation within the North American organization.

  • Knowledge of and affinity with programming. Experience with Automod, VBA, MATLAB, C, or Java would be an asset.

  • Willing to travel occasionally (<10%).
