Job summary

Rush Truck Centres of Canada is seeking a Shop Maintenance Person for the Sudbury dealership. This full-time role operates Monday–Friday on a day shift, reporting to the Service Manager. The position emphasizes OHSA compliance, shop cleanliness, and vehicle maintenance across a busy service environment.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, 2 years in an automotive repair setting, and valid G and AZ/DZ licenses. Lifting up to 50 lbs, tool use, and driving abstracts are required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; College or post-secondary preferred.
  • Two years of experience in an automotive repair facility or related industry preferred.
  • Valid Class G Driver’s license and AZ/DZ licenses required.
  • Must have manual dexterity and ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Criminal record check and driving record (Abstract) required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with OHSA regulations and Health and Safety policies.
  • Inspect grinders, crane, pit, and service truck per check sheet.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and organize the yard.
  • Perform pre-trip inspections on service and shunting vehicles.
  • Wash, fuel, and prep service vehicles; keep trucks in yard clean and presentable.
  • Ensure floor drains and tools are maintained; remove waste and prepare for Safety Kleen.
  • Support heat and safety procedures and ensure compliance with environmental policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Reporting to the Service Manager, the Shop Maintenance Person is responsible for the maintenance and housekeeping of our Sudbury dealership. This is a full-time position, Monday-to-Friday on day shift.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance of all Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations, as well as the Company’s Health and Safety Policy.
  • Inspect grinders, crane, pit, service truck as per supplied check sheet.
  • Empty all trash bins and ensure shop is clean without any obstructions.
  • Perform pre-trip inspection on service and shunting vehicles.
  • Clean new trucks.
  • Repair and maintain all shop tools including repairs to building.
  • Keep yard organized at all times.
  • Perform health reports on Idealease units and dropped off units.
  • Clean Idealease units as required.
  • Ensure all walkways and doors are free from snow and ice before 7 a.m., including salting (October to April).
  • Keep trucks in rear lot swept off and in running condition (October to April).
  • Ensure all units are plugged in and yard check is complete (October to April).
  • Ensure all new trucks in yard are in presentable state; washed, running and free from snow.
  • Check oil in air compressors.
  • Remove oil bins and place outside for Safety Kleen.
  • Pressure wash all floor jacks and lifting devices.
  • Wash and fuel all service vehicles.
  • Wash out pit.
  • Fill floor dry bins.
  • Clean and inspect all air hoses.
  • Comply with all relevant Health and Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Expected to have a positive attitude and promote a healthy work environment.
  • Other duties may be assigned
Basic Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. College or post-secondary education is preferred.
  • Two years of experience in an automotive repair facility or related industry experience preferred.
  • Valid Class “G” Driver’s license.
  • Valid Class "AZ" or "DZ" Driver's licenses are required.
  • Manual dexterity required to complete maintenance and repairs.
  • Will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, and feel.
  • Will use hand and power tools.
  • Occasional lifting of items up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials
  • Criminal Record Check.
  • Driver’s Abstract
