Job summary

Rush Truck Centres of Canada, part of Rush Enterprises, is seeking a 310T Licensed Mobile Service Mechanic/Technician to support the Ottawa Idealease location and surrounding area. The role involves on-site maintenance, diagnostics, and customer service for diesel trucks and related equipment.

You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose faults, and coordinate with the Service Manager. A valid 310T license, G‑class with air brake endorsement, and clean driving record are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Licensed Truck and Coach Technician (310T) is required.
  • Valid G Class driver’s license with air brake endorsement "Z" is required.
  • Driver’s Abstract and Criminal Background Check are required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure OHSA compliance and uphold Health and Safety policy.
  • Maintain all aspects of equipment per company standards.
  • Perform basic maintenance on trucks (fuel, oil, cleanliness, inspections).
  • Manage inventory on the service truck and keep it stocked.
  • Report to Service Manager and follow daily duties.
  • Be available for after-hours service calls and flexible schedule.
  • Maintain and inventory supplied tools for diesel trucks and related equipment.
  • Read job orders, diagnose malfunctions, and plan procedures.
  • Use diagnostic equipment to identify issues and perform repairs.
  • Inspect components (fans, hubs, batteries, brakes, lights, lines) and services.
  • Diagnose tailgates and hydraulics.

The 310T Licensed Mobile Service Mechanic/Technician is responsible for maintaining the fleet for clients and handling service calls at client locations. Provide service to our customers while maintaining exceptional customer service. This can include cleaning, maintenance, visual inspection, and removal of parts and attachments. Installation with the help of proper manuals, report writing, disassembly, assembly, parts reuse evaluation, and reconditioning. This is a full-time position supporting the area around our Ottawa Idealease location.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations, as well as the Company’s Health and Safety Policy.
  • Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
  • Handle basic maintenance of the truck, including filling the tank with fuel, checking oil, keeping it clean, and making sure required inspections are performed and documented as assigned.
  • Manage inventory control on the service truck and keep the vehicle properly stocked.
  • Report to the Service Manager and will be assigned duties on a daily basis.
  • Maintain availability for after-hours service calls and be available for an open work schedule.
  • Maintain and inventory the supplied tools for the work required in maintaining diesel engine trucks and associated equipment
  • Read job orders and observe and listen to vehicles in operation to determine malfunctions and to plan work procedures.
  • Utilize various diagnostic equipment to determine malfunctions and utilize available technical information to determine and perform correct repair procedures.
  • Knowledge of Diagnosis, removal and replacement of fan hubs, fifth wheels, checks and changes batteries, starters, alternators, air lines, glad hands, brake chambers, mirrors, lights, coolant and oil and hydraulic lines and other related components.
  • Beginning knowledge of Diagnosis of tailgates and hydraulics.
  • Perform all necessary diagnostic and documentation functions on the company computer system.
  • Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and make adjustments.
  • Lubricate moving parts and drives repaired vehicle to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Perform preventative maintenance work; oil and filter change and grease work as requested.
  • Document and submit necessary paperwork or enter into mobile service program as work performed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding the work. Foster positive customer relations.
  • Advise customer and/or service writer of any repairs or services which should be performed within the next 3 months.
  • Participate in training and utilize that training in the course of work.
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • SAP experience is an asset
  • Licensed Truck and Coach Technician (310T)
  • Must have a valid G Class driver’s license with air brake endorsement "Z".
  • Driver’s Abstract
  • Criminal Background Check.
