Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our Water Resources Technical Team in Canada. This role focuses on mine water management and leads projects involving hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, water balance, and water quality assessments.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, coordinating inputs from hydrologists, hydrogeologists, geotechnical engineers, and mining engineers, while maintaining client relations and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctorate preferred in water resources or related field.
• PEO or equivalent professional registration is required or preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in mining water management or environmental consulting.

Responsibilities

• Lead mine water resources management projects through all life cycle stages, including baseline studies and water balance or water quality model development.
• Oversee design of water management infrastructure and related components (ponds, ditches, culverts, diversions).
• Manage budgets, staff allocation, and project invoices; develop work plans, schedules, and proposals.
• Prepare technical reports documenting modeling results and field investigations; supervise field investigations of hydrological and water quality aspects.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and engage with clients/regulators to ensure defensible recommendations.
• Travel to field sites as needed, including overnight stays.
