Job summary

Stantec in Canada seeks an experienced Electrical Substation Engineer to lead design and delivery for large-scale HV projects. You will work with a multidisciplinary team across Quebec and Canada to modernize facilities and design new electrical infrastructure for public and private clients.

You will ensure quality, reliability and compliance of designs, developing innovative solutions and mentoring junior staff. Fluent French and English are essential in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Seven years of experience in design or execution of electrical substations or HV infrastructure.
• Member in good standing of the OIQ or eligible to obtain membership.
• Strong knowledge of substation equipment and systems including switchgear and transformers.
• Proficiency with CAD tools and ability to interpret electrical drawings.
• Excellent technical writing for reports and specifications.
• Fluent in French and English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Identify client needs, define scopes, and prepare proposals and cost estimates.
• Design layouts and installations for medium- and high-voltage substations.
• Produce drawings, schematics, layouts, equipment lists and specs.
• Conduct technical studies and analyses for protection, grounding, and efficiency.
• Select equipment based on requirements and standards.
• Prepare fabrication, installation, and construction specs and notes.
• Coordinate with engineers and project managers for integration.
• Review designs for code compliance and best practices.
• Support field teams during project execution and commissioning.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to engineering standards.
