Job summary

Stantec is seeking a seasoned Electrical Engineer to contribute to the design and delivery of large-scale substations across Quebec and Canada. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to modernize facilities and design new electrical infrastructure for public and private clients, ensuring quality, reliability, and compliance.

You will lead technical studies, prepare drawings and specs, and mentor junior staff while expanding client relationships and contributing to project success on

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 7+ years in design or execution of HV substations projects or power infrastructure.
• OIQ membership in good standing or eligible.
• Strong knowledge of substations equipment including switchgear, transformers, protection and grounding.
• Familiarity with standards and codes in the electrical power industry.
• Ability to read and produce technical drawings and schematics.
• Fluency in French and English (spoken and written).
• Proficiency with MS Office and Bluebeam.
• CAD knowledge with AutoCAD/CATIA is an asset.
• ASP Construction certification or willingness to obtain.
• Experience with Hydro-Québec or electric utilities is a plus.
• Strong technical writing for reports, specs, analyses.

Responsibilities

• Participating in identifying client needs, defining project scopes, and preparing service proposals and cost estimates.
• Designing layouts and installations for medium- and high-voltage substations.
• Producing and reviewing technical drawings, schematics, and equipment lists.
• Conducting technical studies such as protection, grounding, and cable analyses.
• Coordinating with engineers and project managers to integrate project components.
• Participating in FAT/SAT and commissioning activities when required.
• Assisting in project documentation and field support during execution.
• Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to engineering standards.
