Job summary

Stantec’s Power team in western Canada is seeking Electrical Engineers to work on HV/EHV substation projects across North America. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team to develop efficient and reliable substations for our clients.

You will coordinate the planning and design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completion. We provide career opportunities that are as unique as you.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) required or equivalent.
• Experience with PSSE, PSCAD, ETAP, CDEGS, WinIGS, MathCAD is an asset.
• Field experience in commissioning/testing is an asset.
• Proven knowledge in Civil/Structural and P&C is an asset.
• Equipment engineering experience is an asset.
• Excellent computer skills including AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact with multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering studies such as power flow, short circuit, grounding, lightning protection, insulation coordination, TRV, cable ampacity, bus, lighting.
• Conduct detailed substation design including switchyard layouts and wiring diagrams.
• Prepare technical specifications for major equipment, construction, and testing & commissioning.
• Provide technical support for procurement, construction and commissioning.
• Assist in preparing proposals, project plans and estimates.
• Mentor and support junior engineers.
• Coordinate with other disciplines during project execution.
• Follow QA/QC procedures to deliver high quality engineering services.
• Conduct site visits to verify installation and define project scope.
