Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Substation Physical Electrical Engineer to lead HV substation design from 25 kV to 500 kV, including one-lines, layouts, and protective studies. You will mentor a team, coordinate with PMs, and ensure timely, compliant engineering deliverables in a hybrid Burnaby-based role.

The ideal candidate has registered P.Eng in Canada, 15+ years of HV experience, and a track record of client collaboration, site visits, and cost estimates.

Qualifications

• Registered P.Eng in Canada.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in utility HV substation design.
• Experience with site visits, FAT, to capture data for estimates and execution.

Responsibilities

• QA/QC of electrical engineering design packages.
• Work closely with Project Managers to meet project timelines for engineering deliverables.
• Determine appropriate allocation of resources and track man-hours on projects.
• Review, comment, and approve electrical design & drawings for substation construction packages for codes and standards compliance.
• Work with the P&C team to produce complete station drawings.
• Attend client interactions and project status meetings.
• Participate in project planning meetings and reviews.
