How will you make an impact in this role?

The Senior Manager, Business Enablement & Controls is a dynamic, fast-paced role requiring an enterprise-minded individual who can collaborate across all levels of the Amex Canada organization. As a key member of the International Card Services (ICS) Business Enablement & Controls team, the successful candidate will focus on strengthening controls to reduce business risk by working directly with a broad set of enterprise stakeholders across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line functions.

The role involves achieving the following objectives:

  1. Elevate business controls and reduce operational risk.
  2. Enhance coordination across all lines of business and regulatory programs.
  3. Serve as a control center of excellence and consultation for ICS colleagues.
  4. Support control requirements across initiatives, remediations, and action plans.

The responsibilities include:

  • Establishing Enhanced First Line Controls
    • Strengthening governance and controls locally.
    • Partnering with enterprise teams on new control requirements.
    • Creating theme analyses and managing cross-functional action plans.
    • Developing and leading new first-line testing programs.
  • Leading ICS Control Programs, Exams & Testing
    • Supporting ICS colleagues on control management priorities.
    • Coordinating testing and exams with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Building Subject Matter Expertise & Execution Excellence
    • Deepening governance and technical expertise within ICS.
    • Partnering on new workstreams and action plans.
  • People Management
    • Hiring, leading, and developing a diverse, high-performing team.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years leading complex processes or initiatives, with 3+ years leading high-performing teams.
  • Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and process management skills.
  • Proven track record in strategic reviews, project delivery, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to develop action plans and manage interdependent processes.
  • Effective collaborator with credibility among stakeholders.
  • Experience thriving in a matrixed organization and influencing others.
  • Proven leadership in fast-paced roles and change management.
  • University degree or equivalent; PMP certification is an asset.
