Job summary

GE Vernova's grid integration HVDC solutions are tailored per project requirements, from offshore wind connections to long-distance transmission. The Lead Plant Engineer serves as the plant engineering representative at project launches and drives technical execution through closeout.

The role leads HV/substation design, BOM management, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering, CAD, and project teams. Travel up to 20% and Canadian licensing considerations apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering; BSEE preferred.
• At least 5 years in transmission and distribution substation engineering for utilities and renewables.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all technical aspects of substations and balance of plant for large HV projects.
• Identify key stakeholders and drive communications for alignment.
• Oversee schedule development, design reviews, risk management, and QA/QC.
• Interface with Project Engineering Director, PEMs, Designers, CAD Operators, PMs.
• Produce concept and detail designs for power single line drawings, layouts, and equipment details.
• Deliver optimized S/S general arrangements for AIS and indoor HV equipment.
• Prepare technical specs and data sheets for major HV equipment; manage BOM/MDL.
• Act as single point of contact for customer and project manager; manage change control.
• Respond to site RFIs and conduct inspections for compliance.
• Meet customer CTQs; support proposals and tenders for HVDC/substations.
