Job description
Overview

Sales & Commissions FP&A role with Branch Office P&L management for the Canadian branches. The role reports to the National GBS Finance Director – Canada and serves as a primary interface between Finance and the Canadian branch leaders with a focus on providing insightful analysis on financial and operating performance of the business, making recommendations and providing support in implementation of said recommendations. As the Senior Financial Analyst, you will manage relationships and directly support the Area Presidents in strategic decisions, with the aim to positively influence the growth of the business.

Responsibilities
  • Month End Process and Analysis: P&L monitoring during close to identify and coordinate close issues that need to be resolved before close ends; understand variances vs. budget/forecast; conduct month end commentary and summarize the story to stakeholders, ensuring commentary is a key point of discussion.
  • Forecast / Budget Process & Analysis: Own overall forecast and budget processes, coordinating inputs owned by revenue, compensation and the reporting team; understand variance drivers from budget and PY; provide forecast commentary and summarize the story to stakeholders.
  • Revenue Gap Analysis: Conduct assessment of reasonability of the outgoing revenue forecast; quantify potential gaps and partner with revenue team to resolve; include assessment on future sales (pipeline adequacy) and develop metrics on renewals and lost projections.
  • Risks & Opportunities: Track risks and opportunities across the full P&L; work with businesses to mitigate risks and realize opportunities.
  • Building Financial Acumen: Lead executive level reviews with Area Presidents and Regional Presidents on results/forecasts/budgets to build financial acumen and help them own their numbers; handle takeaways and follow ups with applicable individuals.
  • Reporting & Stakeholders: Design and champion reporting needs for key stakeholders; coordinate with reporting team to produce.
  • Optimizing Financial Performance: Develop and track KPIs; address under/over performance with stakeholders; conduct profitability analysis at region, branch and client levels; identify underperforming branches/clients and partner with business to improve performance; conduct growth analysis and analyze trends driving growth; monitor expenses and drive efficiencies; analyze key expense drivers.
  • M&A Support: Coordinate with M&A team on earn-out tracking and support; assist with due diligence and integration; lead conversations with merger partners on forecasts and earn-out projections.
Qualifications
  • Advanced Excel (pivots, V-lookups, macros) & PowerPoint; proficiency in Power BI, Power Pivot, NetSuite, Oracle JDE, TM1 & MS Office suite.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity; organized with effective time management; understanding GAAP accounting and strong financial modelling skillset.
  • Strong business partnering, communication, collaboration & interpersonal skills; learning agility and bias to action with business intelligence/knowledge; ability to work with minimal supervision and to gain trust with key relationships.
  • Ability to lead research and triage of complex problems with tactical and strategic solutions; good written and oral communication; ability to summarize detailed business understanding into executive-level presentations.
  • Educational background: University degree, college diploma or equivalent; professional accounting or finance designations such as CPA, CMA.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of financial planning and analysis experience; insurance brokerage/related industry experience is an asset; previous M&A analysis and experience in financial analysis of sales & operational metrics; experience in a complex, international business environment is preferred.
