Job summary

Tolko Industries Ltd. is seeking a Senior Communications Advisor to join our Vernon, British Columbia head office. The role focuses on delivering strategic communications, advisory support to leaders, and driving employee engagement across Tolko’s operating and service teams.

You will help shape internal and external communication strategies for a fast-paced, resource-based manufacturing business. The ideal candidate has 7-10 years in strategic communications, a university degree in PR/Comms,

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in a strategic communications role.
• University degree in Public Relations/Communications.
• Proven execution of communication and stakeholder engagement strategies in a corporate environment.
• Strategic communications planning and project management experience.
• Experience in development and execution of both internal and external communication strategies and tactics in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated initiative and accountability to deliver results.
• Experience in leading through influence – holds others accountable in a positive and effective manner without having direct authority.
• Superior relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize collaborative engagement with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups.
• Confident and articulate, able to share ideas while maintaining a strong sense of team, while continually evaluating what is best for the organization.
• Must have a continuing record of professional development.
• Experience in the forestry industry, or other resource-based manufacturing business considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Deliver communication services, plans and programs that enable strategic business priorities.
• Provide strategic counsel and communications support to Tolko leaders and team members at all levels of the organization.
• Collaborate with Operating and Service Teams to bolster employee engagement and strategic alignment through the use of standardized tools and processes across the business.
• Understand, appropriately engage, and be an ambassador for the services model, our brand, and communication processes on behalf of the Communications Team.
• Work as part of an emergency response team to support issues affecting Tolko.
• Prepare briefs for senior management as required.
• Travel frequently to operations sites (anticipate a minimum of once per quarter).
