Job summary

Trans Mountain Corporation in Burnaby, British Columbia, seeks a Stakeholder Engagement & Communications Advisor (Contract) to plan, deliver, document and report on stakeholder engagement activities that support business objectives and strengthen trust with pipeline communities.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, Engagement, Arts or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in stakeholder engagement, external relations, public affairs and/or communications.
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies and familiarity with regulatory processes is an asset.
  • Strong event coordination and public facing engagement experience.
  • A consistent track record of delivering high‑quality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes or operational functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to develop plans and messaging, and convey information clearly, respectfully, and professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement stakeholder engagement plans.
  • Serve as the primary contact for stakeholders along the pipeline corridor, including locally elected officials, community leaders, organizations, neighbours, industry and ENGOs.
  • Plan and execute engagement activities such as meetings, open houses, site tours, workshops and community events to build and maintain trust with stakeholders.
  • Represent Trans Mountain at community events, meetings and public forums.
  • Monitor and assess stakeholder issues, emerging concerns, community feedback and local sensitivities.
  • Identify and elevate potential reputational, regulatory or political risks, and support proactive mitigation and issues management.
  • Working with other internal teams, respond in an accurate and timely manner to stakeholder inquiries, concerns and complaints.
  • Provide backup support for the public inquiries phone and email
  • Create and review communication materials for external audiences, including key messages, presentations, notices, updates and digital content.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure consistent tone, messaging, brand alignment and align engagement activities.
  • Participate in internal planning meetings and provide input on stakeholder engagement and communication approaches.
  • Document engagement activities and outcomes, ensuring records are accurate, complete and up to date.
  • Provide reporting on stakeholder activities, issues, trends, risks and engagement outcomes.
  • Prepare briefing materials, summaries and reports to support internal decision making and senior leadership updates.
  • Support the preparation of engagement documentation for regulatory filings.
  • Participate in emergency response exercises and support incident response.
